Who we are

WeSurf Media is a storytelling and community-building company rooted in the power of the ocean.
Founded by Kwame LaBassiere, WeSurf Media produces documentaries, podcasts, surf experiences, and social-impact programs that uplift underrepresented surf communities across the African diaspora and beyond.

We believe surfing is more than a sport—it’s a pathway to wellness, cultural connection, and liberation. Through media, education, and on-the-ground partnerships, we amplify voices that rarely get centered in surf culture, while building bridges between local communities and the global surfing world.

From Liberia to Rockaway Beach, from Dakar to Dominica and beyond WeSurf Media works with surfers, youth programs, cultural leaders, and researchers to create authentic narratives and opportunities. Our projects include collaborations with WeRide and Wade in The Water II documentaries, the WeSurf Podcast, , surf therapy collaborations, athlete sponsorships, and international surf travel programs.

Our mission:
To expand who gets to belong in the water—and to tell the stories that reshape surf culture for future generations.
