Meet the Team

The WeSurf Podcast was born from two men, two co-founders, and one shared belief: the ocean carries stories worth telling. Kwame LaBassiere, whose work spans epigenetics, diaspora studies, and surf therapy, brings depth and global perspective. Nigel Louis, a culture-keeper connecting and Rockaway’s surf community through Station Surf Shop, brings heart, rhythm, and lived wisdom from the shoreline. Together, they anchor the podcast in community, history, and the soulful pulse of the water.

Our Mission as Hosts

To make space for stories that matter.
To amplify communities often left out of surf narratives.
To explore the ocean not just as a sport, but as a teacher, healer, archive, and global connector.
And to ensure that every wave of conversation is rooted in truth, curiosity, and community care.
